Mr Soot is offering two unemployed young people a unique opportunity to take their first steps into the world of chimneys, stoves and fireplaces!
The company, which has offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Wigan and Stockport, is recruiting for a trainee chimney sweep.
And in a rare move for a trades company, it is looking for an in-house Marketing Assistant.
The roles are being offered through the Kickstart scheme – a government initiative aimed at providing opportunities for 16-24 year olds who are on Universal Credit.
Mr Soot owner David said: “As a parent of teenagers, I know just how difficult it was for young people to secure opportunities even before Covid hit. That’s why I’m thrilled we are taking part in the Kickstart initiative.
“It’s fair to say very few young people would normally consider working for a chimney sweeping company. But, for the right person, it can be an excellent career choice.
“Make no mistake, it can be gruelling, both physically and mentally. But you get a real sense of achievement at the end of the day as you know you’ve helped keep someone’s home and family safe.”
David said it was also important that one of the roles offered was in the Mr Soot Marketing Team.
“Marketing is a really competitive field and opportunities – especially for those who may not have gone via the university graduate route – can be very scarce indeed.
“But to be fair, since the pandemic, with the closure of many offices, even those armed with degrees have found it difficult to secure employment.
“The Mr Soot brand is extremely well recognised across the UK. Our blogs, social media posts and videos are viewed hundreds of times a day.
“They showcase our services and ethos, as well as providing inspiration for other businesses – from one person bands to larger organisations – to create new content.
“There are very few companies our size which has the same laser-like focus on marketing, PR and brand recognition.
“It’s a unique opportunity for someone to really make their mark at an exciting time in the Mr Soot story.”
The posts are open to anyone aged 16-24 claiming Universal Credit, regardless of where they live. And they come at exactly the right time for the company.
“Even though we are only at the start of the busy sweeping season, it’s clear that demand for our services is greater than ever before.
“We are not resting on our laurels. We have already expanded into Merseyside as well as more areas of Lancashire and Cheshire this year, but there is still further scope for growth.
“It’s an exciting time for the business, as we are now serving more customers, and responding to them quicker, than ever before.
“The future is looking very positive indeed.”
