Hot on the heels of coverage in The Telegraph, Mr Soot’s recent trademark victory has now been picked up by the Daily Mail — further cementing the company’s status as one of the best-known names in the chimney sweeping industry.
The Mail’s report centred on an independent ruling by Nominet, the UK’s domain name watchdog, which found that two websites incorporating the Mr Soot name had been registered and used in a way that was “unfairly detrimental” to founder David’s rights. Both domains have since been transferred to Mr Soot.
Speaking to the Mail, David reflected on what almost a decade of building the Mr Soot name has meant to him and the wider team:
“We are pleased the independent expert ruled in our favour. Mr Soot is a trademark and name we have built over almost a decade.
“It has become a byword for trust and professionalism, so it is important that it is properly protected.
“As a professional company, our focus is on delivering excellent customer service and helping to raise standards across the industry. We were the first chimney-sweeping company to establish its own HETAS-approved training centre, helping fellow professionals develop their knowledge and skills.
“It is this consistent focus on customers, professional standards and innovation that has helped Mr Soot become one of the industry’s best-known brands. We look forward to continuing that growth.”

A growing reputation, online and offline
The Mail’s coverage comes only days after The Telegraph ran its own feature on Mr Soot’s journey from a single second-hand van into an established brand with a presence across Wigan, Stockport, Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington and Preston.
Together, the two pieces reflect the same story David has told throughout Mr Soot’s growth: that consistency, professionalism and a genuine focus on customers are what build a lasting brand — and why protecting that name matters.
“It is this consistent focus on customers, professional standards and innovation that has helped Mr Soot become one of the industry’s best-known brands,” David said. “We look forward to continuing that growth.”
