Listen Now: Mr Soot Interviewed on Flagship BBC Radio 4 Show

Mr Soot Chimney Sweep has been featured on BBC Radio 4 flagship consumer affairs programme You And Yours.

Company owner David was interviewed by journalist Sam Fenwick as he undertook an early morning sweep. He was asked about how the current gas crisis has led to a sharp demand for our services.

The programme as broadcast today (Monday November 15).

David said: “I was delighted to that, once again, national journalists are turning to professional chimney sweeps such as ourselves for comment on issues surrounding open fires, stoves and domestic burning.

“Not so long ago, sweeps would probably have been overlooked, but the stereotypical role of the chimney sweep is changing.

“The media and public are now becoming increasingly aware of the important role sweeps play in ensuring solid fuel appliances are used in a safe and responsible way.

“Campaigns such as the Burnright initiative, among others, have helped shift the perception of sweeps from being simply people who clean chimneys, to highly skilled professionals who can give bespoke advice to customers.”

The interview is just the latest in a series of media appearances for Mr Soot Chimney Sweep. Recently, David contributed to an article in the iPaper about the gas crisis, as well as series of local media stories.

“As one of fastest-growing chimney sweeping companies in the country, we understand how important it is to engage with the media in a positive and proactive away.

“There have been a number of inaccurate print media headlines over the past few years about fires and woodburning in general. So it’s important that we get out there – whether it’s online, in print, on TV or on radio – and give people the real facts.

“I’d like to thank Sam and all the Your And Yours team for a good piece of journalism which will hopefully give people a fuller picture of the role of a modern-day, professional chimney sweep.”
