The boss of HETAS has been quizzed by Mr Soot owner David in a special feature-length interview.
Chief executive Bruce Allen talks about everything from leadership to industry politics in a double-header for David’s popular Trade Entrepreneur podcast show.
The two-hour interview was recorded at HETAS HQ in Gloucestershire.
The first half charts the history of HETAS and how Bruce helped grow the organisation from a headcount of just one employee to more than 60 today.
In the second part, David and Bruce delve into many solid fuel industry topics. These include the recent changes to the HETAS Approved Sweeps scheme, the ’whistleblowing’ process for poor installations, Woodsure and the claims that HETAS’s fees don’t appear to tally with their ’not-for-profit’ status.
David said: “I’m extremely grateful to Bruce for giving up the best part of a day to meet me and be interviewed on Trade Entrepreneur.
“HETAS is perhaps the best-known name in the solid fuel sector, and many people take a massive interest in it.
“It’s perhaps the most in-depth industry interview Bruce has ever done and I know plenty of people will be eagerly tuning into both episodes.
“I think they’ll find it a fascinating insight into not just HETAS as an organisation, but the man who, for many, has been the ‘face’ of it for quite some time.”
It’ll also be an opportunity to hear Bruce’s responses to a whole range of industry issues, including some of the criticism levelled at HETAS.
“We’ve pulled no punches in these interviews,” continued David. ”We asked the tough questions which many in the industry want answering.
“I won’t give too much away, but I think some of the responses may provide serious food for thought for the industry as a whole.
“It’s a real coup to have Bruce on the show and proves that, once again, we are making the waves and setting the agenda.”
The first show went out on Sunday September 25. The second part was broadcast on Sunday October 2.
