Why Carry Out A Chimney Survey & Inspection?
Many chimneys are over 100 years old. And due to their concealed nature, not a lot is known about them.
As properties change hands over the years, chimneys can fall into and out of use.
During periods of dormancy, the flue is still ageing. And it may even have had modifications which render it unsuitable for use.

What Does A Chimney Inspection Consist Of?
This is usually undertaken when one of our qualified Chimney Sweep Technicians inspects a chimney for the purposes of a full Chimney Inspection Report:
⁃ A full clean of your chimney
⁃ A complete CCTV inspection of the flue serving your fireplace
⁃ A smoke draw test
– A chimney leakage test
⁃ A check on your chimney terminal and stack (access dependent)
⁃ Full maintenance certification/paperwork
– A full report which can be used to inform future works

What Type of Issues Can Be Uncovered In A Chimney Survey & Inspection?
There are so many types of issues we come across when inspecting a chimney – we could literally write a book!
Some of the things which we look out for are:
– Condition of the flue
– Any signs of obvious damage
– Flue leakage/loss of integrity
– Utilities such as pipework and cabling
– Inappropriate termination of chimney linings
– Wooden joists protruding into the flue

What Do I Get At The End Of My Chimney Inspection?
If you book a Full Chimney Inspection Report service, you will receive a detailed report, witth photos, about each individual flue you ask us to inspect.
This report can be used to inform future works you may wish to undertake on your flue or your property.
Is It Suitable For Projects With Party Wall Works Involving Chimneys?
Yes absolutely, although you would need a report and inspection BEFORE work takes place as well as afterwards. Otherwise there is no reference point or record of the condition of the flue before works commenced.

How Much Does A Chimney Inspection Report Cost?
Each Full Chimney Inspection Report is undertaken by one of our qualified Chimney Sweep Technicians.
It is an indepth service which looks closely at your flue in terms of its condition, its performance and any potential issues which may arise in the future.
