We’re Going to Town! Mr Soot Teams Up With Ashton

Mr Soot Chimney Sweep is delighted to be backing Ashton Town FC’s quest for success in the upcoming football season.

The HETAS-approved company, whose training centre is in Wigan, is pitching in with sponsorship cash to help boost the coffers of the Edge Green Street club.

It forms part of a new initiative to recognise the valuable contribution grassroots sports and voluntary organisations make across the area.

Founded exactly 70 years ago in 1953, Ashton Town play in the North West Counties Division 1 League. The club is on the up, with attendances growing substantially in the past five years.

As part of the sponsorship, Mr Soot advertising boards will be placed in prominent locations around the ground.

And to encourage more interaction, they have been – at the company’s request – adorned with the club’s famous #UpTheTown social media hashtag.

For Mr Soot owner David, being involved with Ashton Town is extra special.

He explains: “As a football-mad kid from Ashton-in-Makerfield, I spent many Saturday afternoons in the early 1990s down at Edge Green Street.

“I never dreamt that, one day, I’d be coming back as a club sponsor. And with this being my hometown club, it’s gives our partnership an added dimension.

“Also, there is a real buzz about Ashton Town at the moment. The club is really going places and there’s some great initiatives afoot.

“I have been very impressed with the club’s Commercial Team. They’re very much on the ball, with a clear vision for the club and they understand the need to work with the business community in order to help achieve this.

“As an organisation who are similarly pushing forward and breaking new ground – such as the opening of our very own HETAS-approved Mr Soot Training Centre just down the road in Wigan town centre recently – we feel our partnership with Ashton Town really is a win-win situation.”

Mark Cowley, Commercial Manager at Ashton Town, said: “We’re thrilled to have secured the support of Mr Soot, a well-known and growing brand both locally and nationally.

“It’s clear David and the Mr Soot team are passionate about supporting grassroots organisations such as ourselves where it is all about the fans and the wider community.

“Ashton Town really is on a journey. We want to take the club to a whole new level, and we need the support of everyone to do that.

“By receiving backing from forward-thinking local businesses such as Mr Soot, I am confident that, as we mark our 70th anniversary, we can look forward to many exciting times ahead.”
